Commissioners and staff discussed consistency across departments, liability coverage, reimbursement rates and statutory limits. Staff noted personal-vehicle insurance remains primary for work-related travel and county insurance would be secondary if approved. The board emphasized the change would initially apply only to DD Services and that a broader countywide policy would require separate discussion.
By consensus the board asked staff to draft a refined policy for DD Services and return it to the board for formal consideration; no vote was recorded in the transcript.
