The Englewood Water & Sewer Board on June 10 approved a set of agreements and construction contracts to advance the City Ditch piping project for Reaches 1, 3 and 4, and signed off on Xcel Energy crossings needed for both the Santa Fe Park development and for City Ditch piping work in Reach 3.
The board voted to accept crossing agreements with Xcel Energy and temporary construction easements that will allow Xcel to install new gas lines where the pipeline will cross the City Ditch. Stephanie Ellis, an engineer with Inglewood Utilities, told the board Xcel will maintain a minimum vertical separation of 1.5 feet between the new gas lines and the ditch and will notify the city prior to construction so staff can inspect the work as needed.
The board also approved multiple agreements with the City of Littleton and BNSF Railway tied to piping the ditch in Reach 3. Ellis said the City of Littleton will receive a quitclaim deed for a small existing open-channel portion of the ditch in Reach 3 so Littleton can retain a segment of the overhead flume for historical commemoration. As part of the intergovernmental agreements, Littleton requested slope stabilization at the abandoned channel adjacent to private properties and asked the city to remove the overhead flume over Slaughterhouse Gulch while…
