At its June 4 meeting the Bristol Board of Education disposed of a number of formal actions, approving routine consent items, multiple curriculum revisions and two policy updates. A motion to move into executive session to discuss the superintendent’s evaluation did not pass on a roll call vote.
Key approvals included:
- Approval of the minutes from May 7, 2025 (motion moved by Commissioner Veil Goghter and seconded by Commissioner Carlson; board voice vote recorded as "motion passes").
- Authorization of board signatories and certification of authorized signers for CSDE child nutrition agreements (district named Iris White, superintendent, and Jody Bond as authorized signers; motion approved).
- Revisions to parent conference dates for the 2025–26 school year to avoid the Eid holiday on March 20, 2026 (motion approved).
- Authorization to proceed with an energy-efficiency project after prior discussion of financing and expected utility savings (motion approved by voice vote).
- Approval of multiple curriculum revisions and adoptions including: Algebra I (illustrative math alignment), Intro to Career Work Experience (CWE), Construction Technology, Grades 3–5 Math, AP Psychology, Law and Justice and other course updates (motions made and passed individually as presented by curriculum staff).
- Adoption of policy 5.1.3.1 (Connecticut School Climate Policy) as presented and approval of policy 6.1.4.5.6 (instruction, travel and exchange programs) with language to waive the tuition requirement for the upcoming year to enable inbound exchange students; both policies passed by board vote.
- The consent agenda (items 8.1a through 8.2b) was approved; personnel reports and other routine items were accepted.
- A motion to convene into executive session to discuss the superintendent’s evaluation — with Superintendent White invited to attend — was put to a roll-call vote and did not pass.
Where recorded, motions were made by board members and approved by voice vote or roll call as shown in the meeting record. The board did not provide a full named roll-call tally for every vote; for actions recorded as "all in favor" the transcript shows a voice vote leading to passage.
