Amy Mantay, deputy director of the Department of Planning, said the petitioner (listed in county records as 8635 Loch Raven Boulevard LLC) filed the petition in February 2025 and is seeking a change from BL (Business Local) to BMCCC (Business Major Commercial Community Core District). Mantay told the board the petitioner cited a significant change in the neighborhood and a technical mapping error; staff noted the sites are adjacent to the CZMP 2024 issue 6004 area.
Mantay said the petition was filed with the Department of Permits, Approvals and Inspections and forwarded to the Department of Planning in accordance with county code; following Planning Board review and the public hearing the matter will move to the Board of Appeals for final determination.
After a motion and second, the Planning Board set the in-person public hearing for Tuesday, June 17 at 5 p.m.; the board’s vote was recorded by voice as in favor. Staff said a fuller presentation and testimony from the petitioner will be provided at the hearing.
