Polk board names Walter Caldwell Elementary media center for longtime educator Tamisha Erwin

During the meeting several board members praised Erwin’s record. Board member Sarah Beth Wyatt said she has personal experience with Erwin as a theater stage manager and called the honor “fitting.” The board approved the motion by voice vote; the chair announced the motion carried and invited Erwin and her guests forward for a photo and brief remarks. Erwin told the board she felt called to Caldwell in 1980 and said her longevity came from "loving the kids."
What's next: board members indicated plans for a building unveiling and said the district will coordinate a formal presentation at a future city commission meeting.
