Board advances capital projects: moves Heritage Middle roof up on schedule and clears Heritage High auditorium renovation; approves $2.45 million capital funded

Board members voted to move the Heritage Middle School roof replacement up in the long-range capital plan so the maintenance department can proceed to solicit bids and bring a recommendation back to the board. Trustees specified work to be funded from the education capital fund (Fund 177).
The board also removed the Heritage High School auditorium renovation from the table and approved proceeding with the auditorium project, with administration and the county's attorneys confirming with the state comptroller's office that the work qualifies as an education capital project that may be funded from Fund 177.
Separately the board adopted a resolution transferring specific capital expenditures from the general-purpose school fund (Fund 141) into the education capital fund (Fund 177). The resolution lists building improvements ($2,141,698.90), plant operation equipment ($8,484.00) and heating and air conditioning ($299,201.44) — totaling $2,449,384.34 — to be moved from Fund 141 to Fund 177 for appropriate capital accounting and to free operating dollars for other needs.
The transfer and the auditorium and roof motions passed on roll-call and voice votes as presented. Board members said the change follows confirmation from the county CFO and state comptroller's office staff and will help the district accelerate capital work without creating operating-budget shortfalls.
The administration said the maintenance director will proceed to obtain bids for the Heritage Middle roof and that the Heritage High auditorium work will proceed under capital funding rules. The finance office will effect the fund transfer and update budget documents.
