The School Committee approved an overnight field trip for Ashland High Schools girls—4x800 relay team to attend the New Balance national meet on June 20, the committee heard July 11.
A staff member said the four-student relay team "qualified for the national event" after setting a new school record at the MIA meet of champions over the weekend. The students named were Eva Dittenhofer, Sadie Kahului, Madeline Callahan and Sofia Wortnicki.
Committee members approved the overnight trip by voice vote after discussion about logistics and timing; the trip was added to the agenda as an unforeseen but time-sensitive request because qualification occurred after the agenda was posted. Coaches and family members are expected to accompany the athletes; organizers said the team will depart on the 19th and compete on the 20th.
The committee wished the students well and approved the trip without a recorded roll-call tally.
