Green Tree and McLean renovations begin; district opens bidding and abatement work with Findorff

Harder said the district and Findorff have completed bidding across the trade packages and will analyze bids to make subcontractor recommendations. "From there a team analyzes all the bids and makes a recommendation for the selection of the subcontractor," Harder said.
He described the immediate schedule: a kickoff and abatement day at 6 a.m. the following morning, inside demolition to follow later that week, and windows and doors becoming visible work in late July or early August. Harder estimated about 26 trade packages and roughly 17 contractors will be on site over the next five months to complete work ranging from carpentry and concrete to security and final cleaning.
Board members asked about bid evaluation and whether the district must accept the lowest qualified bidder. Harder said the district and Findorff evaluate bids for the lowest qualified bidder that meets requirements and provides best value, accounting for scope, product availability and contractor qualifications. He said pricing and bid volume were satisfactory and that the projects are currently on budget.
Harder also thanked building staff and technology and facilities teams for preparing the sites; he said administrators’ secretaries and some operations will move to the education service center for the summer while the two sites are closed to the public.
