On the final point, Conklin stated that the closing price of gold reported in the CAFR 2024 was $2,683.70 an ounce and that “Gold closed today at $3,363.40 an ounce,” adding that he viewed that as a 25.3% loss of the dollar's purchasing power over eight months. He said he distributed copies of related materials to elected officials and a state senator.
