Courtney Holt House identified herself as a federal plaintiff against Providence Saint Peter’s Hospital, MultiCare Lacey Emergency, the Washington Department of Corrections and the Tumwater Police Department. She told the council she had protested outside city hall in February and said a Tumwater officer followed her afterward. She said devices began to be “messed with, hacked, sabotaged” and that attempts to seek help at hospitals resulted in a diagnosis of bipolar I with no evaluation. She also alleged that an assistant attorney general mocked her mental health in an internal email prior to an unemployment hearing and said her crime victim assistance application was denied as “not enough of a crime.”
Courtney Holt House concluded by asking how much more she must suffer for anyone to care. Council Member Gilman addressed House after the comment period and said she was listening and expressed sympathy for House’s struggles. Council members also thanked Suzanne Beatty for her earlier public comment on the Workers’ Bill of Rights and asked staff for updates on that process.
The council did not take formal action in response to House’s remarks during the meeting; Council Member Gilman asked Assistant City Manager Stacy Ray to provide updates on ongoing items referenced by public commenters.
