The West Covina Planning Commission on June 10 adopted the minutes of its May 13, 2025 regular meeting, appointed two commissioners to the Design Review Subcommittee, and received routine department announcements, including city events and a staff retirement.
Chair Becerra called the meeting to order and the commission adopted the May 13 minutes “as presented.” The commission then nominated and accepted two volunteers to serve on the Design Review Subcommittee; staff announced the volunteers would serve on the subcommittee and thanked them for volunteering. No roll-call vote or motion language was recorded in the transcript for the appointment; the chair thanked the commissioners who volunteered.
In staff announcements, Joanne listed community events including the summer concert series beginning June 18 (every Wednesday through July 30) and the Fourth of July fireworks spectacular at the West Covina Sportsplex. Joanne also noted the next Parks and Recreation master-plan workshop would be held July 7. Staff recognized Lydia Dezara, who was introduced as a senior administrative employee in the Planning Division and Community Development Department with 25 years of service; Lydia has filed for retirement and her last day is July 3. Commissioners thanked Lydia, and staff allowed her to strike the gavel to adjourn the meeting.
The commission then adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
