Committee forwards renewals and flags three full-liquor licenses becoming available July 1

At its June 3 meeting the Janesville Alcohol Licensing Advisory Committee forwarded a positive recommendation for the 2025–26 renewal list to City Council and provided an update on license availability entering the July 1 renewal cycle.
Clerk's office staff said the renewal list for the 2025–26 license year has received positive recommendation from the Janesville Police Department and must be approved by City Council before licenses are reissued. Committee members voted unanimously to send the renewals with a positive recommendation to council.
Staff identified three full-liquor licenses that will become available at 12:01 a.m. July 1: the Lark's full-liquor license will expire because the business closed; Sam's Pizza returned its full-liquor license upon moving to a new location and the owner indicated they will not seek a license at the new site; and Bad Brad's license was not transferred after the owner's passing, creating another available license at the start of the renewal year. Staff said there may not be a second committee meeting in June and advised applicants to plan for the July 1 application timing.
The deputy police chief reported no incidents to bring forward. The clerk's office noted one pending application (a Brazilian steakhouse) that remains under review and has not yet been issued.
