The Alcohol Licensing Advisory Committee on June 3 approved an amendment and extension of licensed premises for Jannisa LLC, doing business as Jannisa Wine Bar, to include the adjacent property at 15 North Main Street that will operate as Jack and Jenny's.
Joshua Pickering, representing Jannisa LLC, told the committee the owner corporation purchased the adjacent patio and building and is renovating the new space so the three parcels will be contiguous under single ownership and operation. The applicant said the properties will operate as one business under one point-of-sale system with an outdoor patio linking the spaces.
Committee members questioned why a single license would be used for multiple street addresses. Staff explained that contiguous premises under single ownership can be licensed as a single premise when interior and exterior spaces are combined, citing a similar example considered by the committee previously. Committee members also asked whether the patio — formerly city-owned under a 99-year lease — had been purchased; staff confirmed the city sold that parcel and the properties are now under the same ownership.
Pickering said staff and gates will be used to control the outdoor patio and that the business will assume responsibility for activity on the patio while it is operating.
Bruner moved to approve the amendment and extension of premises; Miller seconded. The motion passed with five votes in favor and one abstention (5–0–1). The committee noted the recommendation will go to City Council on the consent agenda; applicants were asked to attend that meeting through consent.
