Doreen, the district communications director, briefed the board on the district's communications platforms, including ParentSquare, social media and a recently updated website, and shared early results from a survey tied to the district's Profile of a Graduate.
The nut graf: The communications update showed high ParentSquare volume and app adoption among parents, increased social-media reach after contracting ESD 112, and an early baseline for the Profile of a Grad work — items the director said will shape a fall communications plan and adjustments to distribution and engagement.
Doreen said ParentSquare remains the district's primary family communication tool: she reported about 8,800 parents registered, roughly 1,300 staff entries (with duplicates for staff who appear in multiple schools), and over half of parents having downloaded the app and enabled notifications. A 30-day snapshot she presented showed roughly 17,000 emails and almost 9,000 text messages sent districtwide in the sample window; some individual accounts received more than 100 messages in 30 days.
On social media, Doreen said moving social management to ESD 112 increased reach and interactions; top posts included signing-day coverage, student recognition and a recent reel from Sky Ridge. She described the new website as more stable than the previous WordPress setup and noted its improved search and staff-directory features; ParentSquare and the website are not integrated, though the new site can push posts to social media and app notifications.
Doreen also provided an early baseline for the district's Profile of a Graduate work; she reported about 207 survey responses so far and said the district will push additional outreach. Board members discussed using the Profile of a Grad at different grade levels and aligning it with existing standards-based and citizenship rubrics.
Ending: Board members asked about guest access for community members and the ability of the website to surface school-specific ParentSquare content; Doreen said guests can be added and that she plans a fall push to encourage app adoption and guest sign-ups. The report was informational; no board decisions or votes were recorded.
