Council reviews Lima Community Aquatic Park rates and operations; pool will be open to public with occasional closures for meets

Lima City Council approved ordinance 1 31 25 setting admission and program rates for the Lima Community Aquatic Park and discussed operational details including closures for swim meets and online ticketing.

Councilor Jordan moved the ordinance; during discussion Councilor Wilkerson and other members expressed enthusiasm for the facility. Councilors and administration said the pool began filling that morning and emphasized the park is intended for both open public swims and swim meets. The mayor said meet-related closures will be limited: "There will be some times when the pool will be closed for meets, but that is only maybe 1 to 2 times... Not per week. Maybe per month," an administration official said.

City staff noted the rates included an exhibit; the proposed admission fees listed children ages 4 to 12 at $5 and older age brackets (13 to 59) at $7 according to the ordinance exhibit presented to council. Staff also told council that, once the rates were approved, the park's website (limaaquaticpark.com) would be updated with rates, an online payment portal for tickets and memberships, and programming information. A staff member said the landing page exists and the rates page should be posted the day after council approval.

Councilors asked that the public be notified in advance of scheduled closures for meets; a councilor said meets are typically open to the public and encouraged residents to attend. The ordinance was passed by roll call 6-0.
