City staff outlines city-manager recruitment timeline; interviews set for Aug. 12

City staff updated the council on the city-manager recruitment process at the June 9 workshop, saying the executive-search firm Mercer Group Associates delivered a shortlist and that the full package of all applicants’ resumes is now available for council review.
Staff asked council members to finish reviewing resumes and to identify any additional candidates they wanted moved onto a shortlist. On July 15, staff will ask the council to agree on a slate of finalists (staff suggested identifying four candidates for interview). Staff proposed holding formal interviews on Aug. 12 beginning at 1:30 p.m.; council members indicated support for that date at the workshop.
If the council selects a candidate following interviews, staff said the city would negotiate a contract and determine a start date and transition plan. No formal selection or hiring decision was made at the workshop.
