Hocking County commissioners approved a series of routine but formal actions at their June 5 meeting, including minutes, appropriation transfers, revenue certifications, administrative authorizations and appointments.
Among the items approved without extended debate were the minutes from May 13, May 15, May 22 (with a roll-call vote recorded), May 27 (emergency meeting), and May 29. Commissioners also approved the county bill list and moved into general business.
Appropriation and revenue actions approved included: - Transfer of $652.76 from the recorder’s workers’ compensation account to a supplies account (account numbers referenced in meeting packet). - Transfer of $2,500 from an OPERS account to a Medicare account in the commissioners’ department to cover remainder-of-year obligations. - Rescission of a prior initial appropriation for the sheriff’s office web check account after staff identified an accounting error and no remaining balance. - Certifications of additional revenue and corresponding appropriations tied to sheriff’s sales and auditor sale expenses: amounts discussed included $5,724.94 and $5,080.50 from sheriff’s- and auditor-sale proceeds.
Administrative authorizations and appointments: - Annual proxy letter for the sheriff’s office (authorization for the sheriff or designee to sign Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles documents) was approved. - Appointment of Tom Williamson to the Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) Board to fill a vacancy caused by Cameron Millerway’s resignation; the appointment will run from July 1 and complete the term that began July 1, 2023. - Approval of final closeout paperwork and a change order reducing the overall contract amount (retainage withheld pending final inspection) for the Rockbridge Sanitary Sewer Improvement Project; commissioners approved the closeout paperwork presented by county staff.
Other items approved or noted: - Short-term use of five parking spaces for handicapped parking during the Washboard Festival. - Authorization for county staff to pursue restitution claims and to process bills related to door damage at the Hall’s building and an underground tank at the Tanski property; the county noted the city of Logan provided significant excavation assistance on the underground-tank response. - Several community announcements, including a Hocking Hills Children’s Museum event (early intervention meet-and-greet) and a courthouse centennial rededication and open house scheduled for June 23.
Votes on the routine items were recorded either by voice vote with unanimous assent or by roll call in the transcript where noted. No items in this grouping were tabled or failed on June 5.
