Mayor Mike used his report on June 2 to remind residents of several upcoming events and published reports: a public meeting on redesign options for Route 32/State Route 378 will be held June 10 (meeting time revised to 6:30 p.m.), the village's annual raw water and 2024 water-quality reports were posted on the website and filed with the state and Albany County Department of Health, and the village election is scheduled for Tuesday, June 17 from noon to 9 p.m. on the second floor of the firehouse.
The mayor said the Route 32 outreach will include storyboards and engineer panels for public feedback and said the design includes a "road diet" that would narrow travel lanes to one through lane plus a center turning lane and reduce the posted speed to 45 mph to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists. The meeting time was clarified in the meeting audio as 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Village clerk Don Handerhan was cited as the contact for election and absentee-ballot information; the election will fill two village trustee seats, and declared candidates were listed at the meeting as Seth Harris, Timothy Lane, Lisa Newman and Bill Nevins. The mayor also told the board that the village filed its 2024 Annual Financial Report (AFR) and that a formal audit will begin soon; staff said the AFR is the basis for the upcoming audit and that the village's new auditor will start work in the near term.
Ending
The village said residents should check the website for posted reports and contact the village clerk for election or absentee voting information; the board encouraged public participation at the June 10 Route 32 meeting.
