Menands to continue CDTA bikeshare partnership at reduced rate, relocate station to Broadway corridor

The Menands Village Board voted June 2 to continue participating in the CDTA bikeshare partnership at a reduced contribution and to relocate a bike distribution point to the Broadway/Route 32 corridor.
Mayor Mike explained the village has paid $5,000 in prior years but CDTA offered to reduce the cost to $2,500 for 2025 and $2,500 for 2026; a similar contribution for 2027 was discussed. The board said CDTA will move the bike station from the village park to the bypass/Broadway corridor to increase visibility and better serve commuters. "We're keeping with using it for alternate modes of transportation, promoting healthy lifestyles," Mayor Mike said.
Trustee Brian moved to enter the agreement at $2,500 a year; the motion was seconded and advanced by voice vote. Board members said CDTA will handle promotion and noted a recently appointed executive director with PR experience.

The village will remain part of the regional bikeshare network, and the clerk will work with CDTA on station relocation and promotion details; the village will receive information on usage by ZIP code from CDTA but not by specific village demand points.
