Byram Hills students honored for winning Westchester County mock trial; coach and attorney mentor recognized

The Byram Hills Board of Education recognized the Westchester County Bar Association 2025 mock trial champions and invited team members and coaches to the dais for acknowledgment.
Board members noted the team’s consecutive-year success and advancement to regionals. A coach present at the meeting described the team’s extensive preparation—practicing multiple times per week, rehearsing witnesses and researching case law—and noted the team scored a perfect score in the county finals, which the coach said was a first for Byram Hills.
Coach/teacher remarks singled out nine students as primary competitors and named additional contributors. The presenter listed student participants (examples named in the remarks included Leah Stein, Chloe Fenster, Yingying Chen, Ian Klugman, Emily Battaglia, Amelia Will Petersen, Andrew Levy, Adrianna Zwojczyk and Aaron Stein) and praised the attorneys and student leaders. The board also called forward attorney coach Elliot Schuman and presented him with a plaque in appreciation of his long-term coaching and recent collegiate coaching achievements.
The board and superintendent commended the students and coaches for their preparation and community representation. Team members and coaches were invited to pose for photographs and the board encouraged continued coverage of their success on district social media.
