Byram Hills recognizes 25 teachers granted tenure in 2025

The Byram Hills Central School District publicly recognized 25 educators granted tenure in 2025 and invited them to the front of the board room for photos and remarks.

Superintendent Dr. Jen Lamia praised the tenure recipients for their classroom work and described the tenure process as a sustained collaboration with building principals and department chairs. She said tenure represents a commitment to "give back to colleagues and shape the next generation of children," and introduced the list of recipients across the district’s four buildings: Coleman Hill, Wampus, HCC and Byram Hills High School.

The district listed 25 tenure recipients in the meeting program. Superintendent Lamia read names by school and noted candidates at Coleman Hill, Wampus, HCC and the high school; examples announced included Lauren Azenberg, Shannon Daley, Stephanie DePalma, Michael McHale, Nicole Perjean, Alyssa Leahy, Lindsey McHale, Leah Weckerly, Marissa Cuomo, Jen Fuenzalida and others. The superintendent also noted a districtwide fine arts recipient and several district-level staff who received tenure.

The superintendent said the board had already approved the tenures as part of the consent agenda personnel item earlier in the meeting. The district’s media and communications lead, Brian Melso, presented a short visual tribute highlighting recipients in their classroom settings. Board members, the superintendent and audience members applauded the tenure recipients; the superintendent invited them for a staged photograph after the recognition.

The public record shows that the tenures were included in the personnel consent item approved by the board during the meeting.
