The City of Jenks council nominated and elected two councilors to serve on the Jenks Aquarium Authority (JAA) board.
City staff explained that the JAA trust indenture provides for seven members: three appointed by the Oklahoma Aquarium Foundation and four seats from the city council (the mayor, vice mayor and the Ward 1 representative plus one additional council appointment). Because the vice mayor also serves as the Ward 1 representative, the council needed to appoint two additional city council members to fill its four seats.
Councilor Murray was nominated and confirmed; Councilor Abel was nominated and confirmed in a separate vote. Both nominations passed on roll‑call votes with all present voting yes. Council thanked both members for agreeing to serve and noted the authority will continue to have substantial work ahead.
Appointments to the Jenks Aquarium Authority are governed by the trust indenture for that authority; staff reminded council the JAA is a separate body with both foundation and city appointees.
