The City of Jenks approved a professional‑services agreement with the Jenks Chamber of Commerce to handle tourism promotion, business outreach and community events, subject to an addendum requiring regular performance reporting.
The chamber’s presenter outlined three primary program areas — Discover Jenks (tourism), Elevate Jenks (marketing and business outreach) and community development (events and leadership programs). The presenter said the chamber plans expanded distribution of a Discover Jenks magazine (40,000 copies this year, versus 5,000 in past cycles), a kiosk system for visitor information, partnerships with the Oklahoma Aquarium and other regional entities, and support for workforce and business recruitment.
Council members and residents raised questions about accountability and measurable outcomes. Several speakers asked for financial and performance reporting; one councilor noted the chamber’s operating budget had grown and requested transparency about how funds are spent. Members of the public asked whether the chamber’s location and signage were visible and whether the chamber would provide written monthly reports.
Council approved the agreement on a motion that included direction to add an addendum specifying key performance indicators (KPIs), monthly reports and an annual public report; staff and the chamber were directed to finalize the addendum and return it to council as agreed. The approval was recorded as a council vote in which all present voted yes.
Councilors and the chamber also discussed leadership programming for high‑school students and potential coordination between the downtown master‑planning consultant and the chamber’s marketing work. The council directed staff to have proposed KPIs and reporting ready for the next scheduled meeting.
