The Pennsylvania House of Representatives convened for a brief session on May 30, 2025, during which the clerk read multiple annual reports and the House referred scores of House bills and resolutions to standing committees before approving a motion to adjourn until Monday, June 2, 2025, at 12:00 p.m.
The clerk read three formal reports into the record: an annual report required under the Vocational Rehabilitation Act from the Department of Labor and Industry concerning the State Board of Vocational Rehabilitation (2024 annual report); Pennsylvania State University's Chapter 15 Right-to-Know report covering July 1, 2023, through June 30, 2024; and a stress-testing analysis of the Pennsylvania Public School Employees' Retirement System prepared as of June 20, 2024, submitted via the Independent Fiscal Office. The House also received actuarial notes from the Independent Fiscal Office, which the clerk announced to members.
Following the readings, the clerk recited referrals that sent roughly 50 House bills and several resolutions to standing committees across multiple calendar dates (May 15โ30, 2025). Examples include referrals of bills to Health, Human Services, Liquor Control, Education, Finance, Housing and Community Development, Judiciary, Labor and Industry, Local Government, State Government, Transportation, Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness, Consumer Protection, Technology and Utilities, Environmental and Natural Resource Protection, Game and Fisheries, Insurance, Communications and Technology, Commerce, Tourism, Recreation and Economic Development, and Aging and Older Adult Services. Specific bill numbers read into the record included House Bill 1428 (printer's number 1663, as amended), and numerous other House bills and resolutions whose committee assignments were read aloud; when a bill was listed without further detail, the clerk did not specify sponsors or full titles in the record.
Representative Curry moved that "the House now adjourn until Monday, 06/02/2025 at noon unless sooner recalled by the Speaker." The question was decided by voice vote; the chair announced, "the ayes have it," and the House stood adjourned until Monday, June 2, 2025, at 12:00 p.m., unless sooner recalled by the Speaker. The clerk did not record a roll-call tally in the transcript of the session.
Because the session primarily recorded reports and committee referrals rather than floor debate or final action on individual bills, committee consideration will determine the next substantive steps for the items read into the record. The House will reconvene at the time set by the motion unless the Speaker recalls members earlier.
