The Oklahoma Department of Transportation declared an emergency and awarded an emergency contract to repair the causeway at the east end of the Roosevelt Bridge over Lake Texoma, after record April–May rainfall and high winds caused scour and erosion that compromised the causeway and forced a closure on U.S. 70.
ODOT Director Tim Gatz said the causeway damage “necessitating closure of the Roosevelt Bridal to protect the public,” and that the closure required an approximately 35-mile detour for residents, visitors and emergency services serving Marshall and Bryan counties.
