Ronit Shaham introduced the first-pass EDI freshman-application documentation and demonstrated how loops and fields are presented. Mary Pasquerella of Sam Houston State University asked whether the document’s column that references loops would indicate sequential loop numbers; product and help-desk staff confirmed that is its purpose. Jasmine (surname not specified) recommended expanding abbreviated terms (for example, listing “permanent resident” instead of a short code) and explicitly describing which address line contains apartment or suite numbers.
Several institutions said they rely on the admin portal’s “started but not submitted” export daily or weekly to contact applicants and to feed CRM or SIS workflows. Mary Pasquerella and Michael Sanders (University of North Texas) said their teams pull started-not-submitted lists to send text reminders and to deduplicate graduate and transfer records. Laura Isdell (Collin College) urged that no EDI-file structural changes be pushed to production until a test environment is available; she said her campus needs a stable staging environment before mapping or program updates are changed in production.
ApplyTexas staff said they will iterate on the EDI documentation to spell out abbreviations, clarify address-line behavior and better document loops; they said the test environment is on the development backlog and is being scoped but is not immediately available for the upcoming application cycle. Staff offered to set up follow-up onboarding or troubleshooting sessions for institutions that report missing fields in downloads.
