New Providence reports kindergarten enrollments; seven exception transfers assigned under district policy

As of the report, Salt Brook School had 96 students registered and Allen W. Roberts had 51. Under the district’s redistricting plan and Board of Education policy 23‑12, seven students on an exception list who meet eligibility criteria will be permitted to attend kindergarten at Allen W. Roberts and remain there through sixth grade. Once those seven students are reassigned from Salt Brook to Roberts, the superintendent said projected kindergarten enrollments will be 89 at Salt Brook and 58 at Roberts. Based on those numbers, the district will open four kindergarten sections at Salt Brook and three at Roberts.
Zirpoli said the district will notify the seven families by email and regular mail the next morning and that all incoming kindergarten families have received a “save the date” for kindergarten orientation on Wednesday, June 4. He added that kindergarten screening letters will be sent the morning of May 30 and recommended families contact their school with questions. The superintendent also said that if Roberts’ enrollment reaches 64 or more before the school year starts, the district is prepared to open a fourth kindergarten section at Roberts and will continue to monitor enrollment.
