Ames FFA member Elijah Magtoto named state champion in food science

Dr. Hawkins told the board the district was “proud to celebrate the outstanding performance of our Ames FFA chapter,” and announced that Elijah Magtoto earned first place in the individual test and was named the state champion individual overall. The recognition noted the role of Anna Brooks, an agricultural teacher and FFA sponsor at Ames High School, in preparing students for the competition.
The district framed the event as a hands-on extension of STEM and agricultural learning, saying participation “allows students to deepen their understanding of STEM, agriculture, and teamwork while preparing for future careers in the food and science industries.” The board offered brief congratulations to the student and staff during the recognition segment.
