At the May 29 City Council meeting the mayor reported that an independent audit of the city’s financial statements produced no material findings for the seventh consecutive year.
Mayor Ron Nirenberg commended the city’s finance and accounting teams and asked key staff to stand as he thanked them by name, including Comptroller Elizabeth Julieard, Kimberly Núñez (administrator of financial reporting), and Melanie Keaton (director of finance). The mayor said the annual financial report is posted on the city transparency website and is used by regional agencies, investors and the public.
The mayor characterized the outcome as a sign of strong internal controls and thanked the employees and external auditors for the work. No substantive discussion or action items followed; the council moved on to other agenda business.
