Council pauses to honor departing Councilmember Adriana Rocha García

City Council colleagues, staff and community partners on May 29 paid tribute to Councilmember Adriana Rocha García in her final council meeting, citing her leadership on public health, housing policy and south-side community initiatives.

Multiple councilmembers and guests praised Rocha García’s preparation, questions and long-term impact. Remarks credited her work leading health and housing committees, advancing workforce development and advocating for south-side neighborhoods. Colleagues described her as a bridge between generations and neighborhoods and noted her role elevating San Antonio on state and national stages.

Rocha García addressed the chamber and thanked residents of District 4, her staff and a long list of nonprofit and corporate partners she worked with. She recognized the district office staff by name, thanked volunteers and partners such as Girls Inc., Frost Bank partners, and neighborhood organizations, and encouraged continued engagement with local leaders. She also acknowledged family members and staff in the gallery and urged residents to keep talking to elected officials and to remain involved in civic life.

The mayor and multiple councilmembers described Rocha García’s service as influential and lasting, and the council recessed into executive session after the farewell remarks.
