The Centennial School Board voted May 28 to appoint members to the district's newly formed District Equity Advisory Committee, a body the board described as an implementation of statutory requirements and a next step in the district's equity work.
Superintendent Owens and Assistant Superintendent Tasha Katsuda presented the committee roster and explained the panel evolves the district's previous equity leadership team into a formal advisory body with duties that may include advising on policy, budget and practices that affect historically underserved students.
The board moved and seconded the appointments; trustees voted in favor. The administration said final names would be confirmed with individuals before publication (the board resolution and roster list included initial letters for some nominees pending confirmation). The board discussion noted the committee is not required to include a member of the budget committee until a vacancy arises and emphasized the committee will expand stakeholder voice as required under state guidance.
Chair and staff directed the administration to move forward with appointment confirmations and to work with the committee on membership roles and a schedule of meetings.
