The Pottsgrove School District operations and finance committee reported that bids for the district’s paving and tennis-court projects are out and that recommendations were expected late the following week with a planned vote at the June 10 board meeting.
Committee chair Luis Coramenos said bids will be returned next week and recommendations will be made for board action. He said the tennis courts will not be available for the fall season and that athletic staff are arranging alternative plans. Coramenos also noted an upcoming site walk and planning meeting for the stadium and track project.
Martin Schreiber, middle-school assistant athletic director and Pottsgrove Rec representative, reported recreational-program participation: 43 signed up for swim lessons, 22 for basketball, 14 for volleyball, 16 for line dancing; walking club is restarting; 44 children were signed up for summer playground at the time of the report. Schreiber also said an equipment-storage issue affected the community band and that a large paving project would affect parking and facility use during the summer; he asked the board and staff to coordinate solutions.
Board members and staff said they expect formal bids and contract recommendations in June and will provide updates to the board and the public.
