The Land for Maine’s Future (LMF) board voted to preliminarily allocate $3,521,895 in LMF conservation and recreation funds to 13 projects following an executive session and a public return to the meeting.

The board’s action lists the 13 projects named in the motion as preliminary recipients of LMF funds: Beach Ridge, Black Point, Cox’s Pond, Keelman Stream, Jackman Aiden, Addyenne, Kennebec Highlands to North Pond, Kingfield Black Noble, Mosher Falls, Mount Harris, Noyes Mountain Extension, Pleasant Hill, and White’s Marsh Brook. The motion as read at the meeting states: “I move that the following projects receive a preliminary allocation of $3,521,895 of LMF conservation and recreation funds.” The motion was seconded and then approved by the board.
Staff told the board that total requests across the round equaled $3,521,895 and that the pool of available funds for project awards (including interest) was $4,096,110. Staff said that if every request were funded the program would retain about $574,214 afterward; staff also cautioned those figures are estimates.
Board staff said applicants selected as finalists will be notified in writing of the board’s preliminary allocation and any conditions attached to the funding. Until those conditions are satisfied, the board’s allocations remain confidential and applicants may request a verbal report from the director after the meeting.
The board concluded the meeting after the vote and directed staff to proceed with communications to applicants and next steps in the award process. Additional procedural material presented at the meeting reminded members of the statutory requirements for calling and conducting executive sessions under Maine law and the board’s confidentiality obligations during the scoring and award process.
