Committee adopts several personnel and admissions policies and removes outdated family/medical policies

The committee approved adoption of updated policies from MASC, including domestic violence leave and consolidated family/medical leave policies, and voted to remove older policy language that was superseded.
Policy Subcommittee Chair Miss Cormier presented several policy updates recommended by the Massachusetts Association of School Committees (MASC). The committee voted to adopt GBGE (domestic violence leave), GBGF (family and medical leave consolidations) and school admission policies JF, JFE-1 and JFE-2.
Miss Cormier said these updates combine and modernize previous family/medical leave rules and bring district policy into alignment with model language. The committee also voted to remove four older items (GCCC, GCCE, GDCC and GDCC-e) that are redundant under the consolidated family/medical leave policy, and to remove DDC as outdated after an update.
A committee member asked that links to MASC source documents or the policy drafts be provided to the public; Miss Cormier said posted minutes and the subcommittee’s Google Docs include those materials. All motions to adopt and to remove the listed policies passed by voice vote.
