The Elmhurst School District 205 Board of Education voted 7-0 Wednesday, May 28, to go into a closed session citing state statutory provisions to discuss self-evaluation practices and personnel matters, and announced it would adjourn from the closed session without returning to open session.
Board member Mrs. Asif moved that the board go into closed session “for the reasons of self evaluation practices and procedures or professional ethics when meeting with a representative of a statewide association of which the public body is a member 5 ILCS 122 c 16 and, b, the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees, specific individuals who serve as independent contractors in a park, recreational, or educational setting, or specific volunteers of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee… 5 ILCS 1 22 c 1,” and Mrs. Hassler seconded the motion.
The board called the roll and each member voted yes: Mrs. Asif, Mrs. Hassler, Mrs. Trautman, Dr. Henry, Mrs. Lewinsky, Mr. Bresnahan and Mrs. Arvanites. The clerk or presiding officer announced “7 ayes, 0 nays.”
Before adjourning to closed session, a board member noted that because there were no action items on the published agenda the board would not return to open session after the closed meeting and would instead adjourn from closed session.
The meeting also included scheduling notices: a policy committee meeting on June 4, 2025 (listed at 5:30 p.m. and a second time referenced at 4:30 p.m. in the transcript) and a regular board meeting on June 17, 2025, at 7 p.m., both at the District 205 Center in Rooms 215, 16 and 17.
