Wright County drainage trustees approve work orders, assessments and drainage invoices

The county’s drainage trustees approved two work orders for tile repairs, accepted joint district assessments with neighboring counties and approved multiple drainage invoices totaling more than $51,000.
Trustees for Wright County’s drainage districts met in regular session and approved two work orders to address damaged tile and other drainage repairs, accepted joint-district assessments and approved a set of drainage invoices submitted by private contractors.
Courtney Morris, branch administrator, said two work orders were reviewed and approved: one for Sub Drainage District 58 in Morway Township for a main-tile blowout approximately 60 feet from a fence line, and another in Joint Branch District 121–54 in Section 33 of Morway Township for a tile blowout. Morris recommended obtaining price estimates to replace sections of shallow, reinforced concrete tile with dual-wall plastic pipe for a longer-term fix on at least one site.
Morris presented the 2025 joint assessment for a joint branch district shared with Hardin, Franklin and Hamilton counties. The total levy for that district was listed as $146,065.78, with Wright County’s share equal to $6,571.63. Trustees voted to approve the joint assessment.
The trustees also approved the county’s 2025 drainage district assessments as submitted; Morris explained the assessment table shows an option for eligible districts to waive payments for a specified number of years and that administrative fees are calculated at 3 percent plus $5 per tract for the assessment year.
The board approved several drainage-related invoices from contractors and vendors: Braun Tree Service ($20,354.88) for hydroseeding at DD 36 lateral C ditch; Mountain Movers ($1,841.80) for work in DD 184; Mountain Movers ($11,616.80) for repairs on DD 139-73 (two blowouts on a 32-inch tile); Mountain Movers ($3,828.60) for DD 130 repairs; Patterson Excavating ($6,159.40) for DD 62, Section 6, Woolstock; and Pedersen Construction ($7,847.60) for DD 62, Section 36, Eagle Grove Township. The invoices totaled $51,649.08. Trustees voted to approve the invoices as presented.
Trustees also discussed a repair on DD 232 (a 24-inch main that in the field ties into an existing 30-inch reinforced concrete tile). Morris said she intends to obtain a price to replace about 216 feet of pipe from where lateral 7 intercepts to the ditch and noted past repairs in 2023 and 2024. Morris said the intake in the ditch was very large and that staff may recommend replacement with dual-wall plastic to reduce repeat calls for repairs.
All drainage trustees present voted to carry the motions reported in the minutes.
