Sumter County Council moved forward on multiple property sales Tuesday, approving readings and directing staff to return with formal contracts.
Council considered an offer to sell about 3 acres on Rockville Airport Road for $72,750. During the discussion the figure was described as "$72,750, which is $24,250 per year" in the public record; the contractterms and conditions were attached to the agenda and council approved moving the matter forward to the next step.
Separately, council gave first reading approval to sell a property on North Wise Drive to Combat Veterans. A letter attached to the agenda offered $50,000 for the site commonly known in the transcript as "the Greenhouse." Council asked staff to return for a second reading with a formal contract containing the terms of sale.
Council also approved proceeding with the sale of "Prop T" at Interstate 95 and moved that item toward third reading. Committee reports recorded motions from an executive session to proceed with the purchase of a building for economic development using infrastructure funds and to sell county property at the airport; council voted on those motions by voice vote.
Minutes and the attached contracts will provide final sale terms, exact legal descriptions and any conditions; council directed staff to prepare and present formal contracts at upcoming meetings.
