Carson City trustees nominate district staff, community partners and board members for NASB awards

At its May 27 meeting, the Carson City School District Board of Trustees approved a slate of nominations to be submitted to the Nevada Association of School Boards (NASB) for the organization’s 2025 awards and recognitions.
The board’s nominations include district administrators, classified staff, community partners and school board members across multiple categories. Among the nominations the board approved were: school administrator candidates Dr. Susan Molden and Josh Billings; classified‑staff nominees Eva Bickmore (office specialist) and Sherry Fletcher (transportation supervisor); district‑level administrators Daniel Sadler and Dr. Tanya Scott for impact on student achievement; and nomination of Carson City Mayor Lori Bagwell and Dana Whaley of Carson City Toyota as a “friend of K‑12 public education.” The board also nominated Rosio (Rocio) Hernandez of the Nevada Independent for NASB’s media award and the Carson City School District board for the NASB Board Governance Team award.
President Lupe Ramirez and trustees said the nominating subcommittee reviewed nominations submitted by district staff and assembled the board recommendations for final approval. Board members noted existing letters on file for some repeat nominees and asked staff to compile supporting details and data for each nomination. The board agreed volunteers among trustees will draft the letters of recommendation; staff said completed letters should be ready in time for NASB’s August 15 deadline.
A motion to approve the nominations list passed by voice vote. Board members thanked staff for collecting nominations and said they would help draft supplemental materials for the submissions.
