Board approves OpenGov enterprise asset management expansion for public works, parks and facilities

Canton Township authorized an expansion of its OpenGov enterprise asset management platform, approving a purchase order to Vertosoft OpenGov not to exceed $106,390 to bring facilities maintenance, engineering, sidewalks and parks into the township’s new system.
Clerk Seager made the motion, supported by Trustee Ganguly. Staff explained the township is replacing a 17‑year legacy system (Cityworks) and selected OpenGov for its GIS integration and cloud‑based platform. The expansion will support capital improvement planning and budgeting by integrating assets previously tracked by paper records and spreadsheets.
Directors from Municipal Services, Parks and IT described operational benefits and said the water/sewer implementation is already going live and the OpenGov rollout has been a team effort across departments. Board members asked about related permitting software; staff said permits will be handled by a different platform (BS&A) with a tentative October launch for permitting changes this year.
The board approved the purchase order and the planned phased implementation across departments.
