Henrico County officials on May 27 said Brandon Hinton will assist the City of Richmond for the next 90 days with financial and administrative functions and will serve as an interim deputy city administrator for Richmond.
"The mayor reached out in a time of need and like any good neighbor, we responded with aid," the county manager told the Henrico County Board of Supervisors. The manager said Hinton is "recognized as 1 of the most knowledgeable and experienced deputies in his field" and that Hinton’s county duties have been delegated among the county manager’s office staff so county operations will continue.
Hinton addressed the board and said he was "incredibly humbled to be asked" and described a long county career. "I'm hoping I could be of help to the city," he said, noting he has been with Henrico for most of a 22-year career.
The board did not take formal action beyond acknowledging the announcement. County officials said agency heads will check in with Hinton during his temporary assignment.
Ending
County officials emphasized the assignment is temporary and said the county will support Hinton and maintain continuity of local services while he works with Richmond.
