Kaufman County Commissioners Court approved a bundle of routine agenda items during Tuesday’s meeting, including consent items, a final plat, advertising for a culvert and guardrail contract, routine budget transfers and payment of county bills and payroll.
The court accepted the tax assessor-collector’s monthly property-tax collections report for April and the monthly auto collections report. It approved the minutes from the May 20, 2025 commissioners court meeting as part of the consent agenda.
On a land-use item, the court approved the final plat for Zara 2024 Addition, a roughly 5-acre subdivision on Kennedy Road in Precinct 1 that splits the parcel into two lots (approximately 1.3 and 2.8 acres per staff). County staff said all required documents were submitted with the agenda packet.
Roads staff asked the court to approve advertising for bids for new box culverts, header walls and guardrails to create a standing bid that would cover several culvert sizes and reduce repeated bidding during the year. Staff explained the specifications draw from TxDOT drawings for various culvert sizes; the court authorized advertising the bid.
The auditor presented routine line-item transfers and budget amendments and the court approved them. The auditor also presented accounts payable invoices totaling $1,256,409.38 and payroll of $2,046,954.57 for a combined payout of $3,303,363.95; the court voted to approve payment.
Why it matters: these routine approvals cover planning, road infrastructure procurement and county financial operations, enabling staff to proceed with construction planning and meet payroll and vendor obligations.
