Burleson Independent School District staff told the Board of Trustees on May 12 that the district’s Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) local designation for Phase 2 has been approved and that 234 teachers will receive TEA TIA designation stipends.
Ann Marie Shelton presented the update and said the TEA stipend payments will range and that the total additional compensation to local teachers is $1,866,211. Shelton said the designation will result in one‑time stipend payments from TEA estimated in that total and that the district has submitted a final TIA expansion application to include remaining teacher groups.
Shelton also said Burleson ISD had been selected as a TEA and Region 1 SLO (student learning objective) pilot district to receive support for implementing the final expansion. “TEA and Region 1 will be providing support to us to implement our final expansion for the remaining teacher groups,” she told the board, and characterized the selection as recognition of the district’s commitment to TIA and teacher growth.
Board members did not take a separate vote on the update; Shelton asked for questions and said further expansion‑related work will proceed with TEA support. The presentation included the number of designated teachers (234) and the district’s reported total stipend figure; Shelton did not list individual teacher names or the per‑teacher stipend amounts in open session.
