School finance report: board approves $176,180 state retention funds and other grant appropriations

The board approved four appropriations in a single motion: a request to appropriate $176,180 in state revenues to provide one-time retention bonus payments for instructional support positions (VDOE-required certification documents were submitted); a Perkins grant reallocation of $351.06 for CTE equipment; a federal reallocation of $6,727.60 to continue work with a grant-funded partner at the elementary school; and a $100,000 Title I school improvement award to fund staff professional learning and implementation support this summer and into the coming school year. Mr. Trump said the state funds 'are sufficient to provide only the entire cost of an average $1,000 bonus per state-funded SOQ instructional support position and does not fully fund a $1,000 bonus for all employees.' He said ACPS will use state and allowable local funds to ensure equitable distribution per legislative intent.
