VDOT reports asphalt repairs, pipe replacements and sidewalk bid opening for Amelia County

VDOT's area representative updated the Amelia County Board of Supervisors on current and upcoming roadwork, pipe replacements and mowing operations.
In her report, Miss Worley said area crews are conducting asphalt repairs and dig-outs on multiple routes and that temporary patching has been completed on several roads while crews await pipe replacements. She told the board a pipe replacement was planned for Green Street tomorrow and another for Drunkard Road near Route 360 next Thursday; both closures were advertised via press releases.
She said primary mowing has begun in-house and that the contractor for secondary mowing has until June 3 to complete county routes. VDOT also reported plant-mix paving planned this summer on Route 38 (approximately 3.5 miles west from Route 153) and that several subdivision streets already on the plant-mix schedule had been completed.
On the Amelia sidewalks project, staff said the bid opening is scheduled for a week after the meeting and that the county will know next week whether bids will allow construction this summer.

VDOT staff also told the board that surface-treatment work is expected to begin in late July or early August and that pavement-marking eradication and patching would precede those treatments.
