"This is the lowest number we've ever had, 23 foreclosures," the Bay County Treasurer said during the May 20 meeting. The treasurer said the auction will be held virtually, that the sale “opens 30 days prior to” Aug. 6, and that the office is exploring demolition as an option for some properties but must first determine which parcels are eligible and whether funding is available for demolition.
The treasurer also thanked local partners for outreach efforts, citing the Michigan Community Action Agency and a staff member identified as Melissa for helping locate taxpayers who are hard to reach during tax-foreclosure processes.
The Board of Commissioners moved to receive the delinquent-tax foreclosure report; the motion carried after the board voted "Aye" with no opposition recorded on the public transcript.
