The Town of Brownsburg Executive Board on May 20 approved General Order 25-1100, converting the department's uniform general order into a formal policy and changing who oversees uniform inventory and administrative uniform choices.
Deputy Chief Schauger, speaking for the Brownsburg Fire Department, told the board the policy removes the quartermaster position from the text because the department no longer fills that role and assigns those responsibilities to the deputy chief of administration. Schauger said the department will also update internal terminology and allow the fire chief discretion over acceptable alternate shirts, while permitting navy-blue or khaki pants and either black or khaki-style boots.
The change was presented by staff and a board member moved to approve General Order 25-1100; another board member seconded the motion. The board adopted the policy by voice vote. No roll-call tally was recorded in the meeting transcript.
The new policy requires staff to revise the written document to reflect the change from a general order to a policy and to update internal references (Deputy Chief Schauger said the department would "make that adjustment to this policy after the meeting"). The board did not set a separate implementation date during the meeting.
The vote followed brief administrative explanation and there was no recorded public comment specific to the policy. The board will receive the updated policy document after staff completes the textual changes.
