Lede: The College Station ISD Board of Trustees approved a guaranteed maximum price (GMP) of $26,856,631 on May 20 for stadium improvements at A&M Consolidated High School and College Station High School and also approved multiple related construction contracts funded from recent bond issues.
Nut graf: District facilities staff told trustees the stadium package and other bond projects — including playground surfacing at eight elementary campuses, replacement of bleachers at AMCHS softball, and materials testing for several bond projects — can proceed within bond budgets after competitive procurement and negotiations with local contractors.
Body: Facilities presenter (construction staff) summarized the current bond work and schedule. He said crews have completed turf and track work at middle schools and are advancing bleacher and restroom/concession construction. On the two high school projects he told trustees, "we are pushing hard to be done summer of 2026" and noted the district will begin drilling piers and other major foundation work.
On the stadium projects, he told the board that additional scope was identified during design and site observation and, despite adding that scope, the project is estimated to come in roughly $3.5 million under a $30 million budget. "It is our recommendation that the College Station Independent School District Board of Trustees approve the guaranteed maximum price of $26,856,631 for the stadium improvement projects ... and authorize the superintendent to execute all related documents using the 2024 bond funds," staff said.
Trustees voted to approve the stadium GMP unanimously (7–0). They also approved a $1,328,755 contract with Playground Solutions of Texas to replace playground surfacing and add play equipment at eight elementary campuses, a $424,200 contract to Southern Bleachers to replace bleachers at the AMCHS softball stadium, and a $470,713 contract with CME Testing and Engineering for materials testing across a set of bond projects. All four motions passed by unanimous votes.
Staff emphasized timing and logistics: stadium work will pace around athletic seasons (staff said major stadium demolition and installation will be scheduled after football season) and several projects will require close coordination with schools while campuses remain occupied. Facilities staff described contractor selection (local CMARs for many projects) and an aggressive schedule to achieve key summer milestones.
Ending: With approvals complete, district staff said contracts would be executed and mobilizations would start immediately for many sites; staff promised to return to the board with status updates as work progresses.
