Board reschedules late-June meetings to June 26 to spread workload ahead of July deadlines

Facing a crowded July agenda, the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners on May 20 voted to reschedule its June meetings, consolidating the June 17 Board meeting and the June 18 Comprehensive Development Master Plan (CDMP) meeting to June 26.
Commissioners discussed options for pacing items between June and July to avoid an excessively long July 1 or July 16 meeting. Several commissioners expressed concern about the volume of items that normally accumulate over the summer and the limited committee cycles available before the millage-setting deadlines in mid-July. The board agreed by voice vote to move the June BCC meeting and the CDMP meeting to June 26, and members said they would try to keep the June 26 agenda light and prioritize time-sensitive items.
The change is intended to give staff and commissioners more meeting capacity to review budget items, millage-setting materials and pending ordinances before the board's July schedule.
