Harlandale ISD says Teacher Incentive Allotment will deliver $2.11 million to designated teachers

Harlandale Independent School District staff told the board that participation in the statewide Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) generated $2,110,571 for designated teachers, with most of that money set to appear in teachers' July paychecks, the district said at a board meeting.

The announcement described 189 TIA designations across the district: 15 at the master level, 91 exemplary and 83 recognized. Stonewall Flanders was listed as the campus that generated the largest campus allotment — $196,360 — and the district said the largest single teacher payment will be $21,219.20, with the smallest listed at $4,212.80.

"I'm proud to announce that our participation in TIA has generated a total of $2,110,571; 90 percent of this will go directly into teachers' pockets this coming July," district presenter Miss Castro said while summarizing campus-level totals and asking trustees to come forward for a photo when a ceremonial check was presented.

Castro described the number of master-, exemplary- and recognized-level designations and noted that several campuses produced six-figure allotments. Board members and staff joined teachers onstage for a photo after the presentation.

Board members thanked Castro and district staff for organizing the program and for completing the paperwork required to submit designations. No formal board action or vote was recorded for this item; the presentation was informational and included a ceremonial check delivery.

The district did not provide a line-by-line list of individual teacher names in the presentation text excerpted for the meeting minutes. Trustees who commented on the item expressed appreciation and encouraged continued efforts to recognize and compensate teachers.
