Ames High awards 20 graduates the Seal of Biliteracy in multiple languages

The Ames Community School District recognized 20 Ames High School seniors who earned the Seal of Biliteracy, district staff reported.
District staff explained that to earn the seal students must demonstrate proficiency in English and at least one other language across speaking, listening, reading and writing assessments. Staff named students who earned the seal in Spanish, German, Chinese, Portuguese and French, and noted two students earned the seal in two languages.
Earlier in the meeting, the board and staff applauded the students and thanked the teachers who prepared them for the assessments.
No formal board action was required; the report was informational and celebratory.
